Hanging Your Mirror Securely
Some lighter wall mirrors can be hung on a sturdy wire attached to the back of the mirror and then hung off a single wall hook. Use a wall anchor or picture hanging kit for extra safety and stability. For heavier wall mirrors, the best method is to attach an anchor and hook right into a wall stud. The stud is the upright post or 2x4 in the framework of your wall. To find a wall stud, just rap your knuckles on the wall surface until you hear a solid sound which tells you where the stud is located. You can also buy an electronic stud finder in any building supply or hardware store. You may need to attach several of these anchors with heavier mirrors. For oversized mirrors, attach a 2x4 crosspiece support onto the wall. Secure hooks or hangers onto this, then hang the mirror. Many of our mirrors include J-hooks or the hanging hardware you’ll need.
